Hi Friends!
How's life? Trust all's well with you and your loved ones. In the last two months I wrote on happenings and events in my country and around the world that didn't give us much of a reason to smile or celebrate about....well then let's compensate you all for that! :-)
Let's start with India first...well, though there has been no respite from the scam and corruption in our country, but we do have crusaders like Anna Hazare who keep the government under checks and balance. But before Anna Hazare's movement could commence early last month, on 2nd April 2011 (Remember this date, it's history and finds a direct entry into sports lovers journals of reference)both India and Indians all over the world had a reason to celebrate when the Indian cricket team brought home the coveted World Cup after 28 long years and not before beating reigning favorites Australia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka as we marched past to the big WIN.
There were many observations on this historic moment...it was the first time that three Asian countries stood first, second and third in the World Cup. Also had any of the three teams won the finals, it would have been their second World Cup win...so it could have been anyone's game as the teams put their best foot forward...but lady-luck was on our side I guess! And of course for India it was a revelation as she finally found her match ( I mean her captain!) in Mahendra Singh Dhoni who showed great steel and determination all through the tournament and more so in the final match when they had to chase 274 and the two key opening batsmen were already on their way back to the pavillion. But the iron-willed Dhoni and youngster on the mark, Gautam Gambhir led India to victory when they made a successful partnership of 91 and 97 runs to the tally of scores. Just as India found her captain, she also found another key person to mentor, inspire and train her team to win...he was Gary Kirsten, the former coach of our Indian cricket team who was instrumental in scripting India's journey and the victory at the World Cup.
And finally....one victory that eluded the 38 year old cricketing maestro,Sachin Tendulkar in his cricketing career was realized and found it's way into his treasure-chest of world records and achievements.Click to read more...http://sachintendulkar.cricket-records.com/links/Records.htm
Missed late Princess Diana at the wedding! |
Just as the spring of April brought home the sweet victory of the World Cup,right on the second day of the month, then the penultimate day of the month gave us yet another reason to partake in the royal marriage celebrations of Prince William to his college sweet-heart Kate Middleton that took place amidst pomp, fanfare and regalia on the 29th April.
Firstly,I am very happy for Prince William as he surely deserves his share of happiness because of all the problems he went through be it on his parents separation, then yet another blow came at the untimely death of his mother Princess Diana in a car crash and the media trial that went on for years on the mystery and circumstances that shrouded his mother's death. I do hope the media puts all those to rest and bless the couple as they begin a new chapter of their life. My heartiest Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Willam and Catherine.

Now, many of you might just be wondering on what happiness could a commoner like anyone of us possibly derive from the marriage that took place in the Royal family.. Well, you definitely have one important connection and a good reason to join in the celebrations. You mustn't forget that the Prince chose to marry Kate Middleton, a commoner, your girl next-door and a college-going girl...and she could be anyone of us!
The stories your mother may told you as a child about a Prince who saw a beautiful girl in the garden and fell head-over-heels in love with her and they lived happily ever after.....is now no longer just a fairytale that you dreamed by night and forgot by day. Behold....now what does this tell you? It may be a distant possibility...but the probabilities are right there in your favor. So you can hope for the best and leave the rest to God for He will give you nothing but the 'bestest'!
And now I hope I have not confused you in your quest for looking out for a 'prince'ly match or a 'celebrity' match...well if there's one for you...no one can stop it from happening; your knight in shining armour will find his way to your door and to your heart! Hey,but commoners ain't that bad...after all Kate Middleton was also one! ;-)
