Hi Friends,
Come September and I've decided to do something very different from the usual for this month's post!So for a change it's not films for a topic of discussion but a chance where you could get involved to help someone and make a difference!
In this month's post,Sonyaa's Random Musings has taken it upon to promote the book titled, "Bitter Facts, Beautiful Truths" as we extend our support to the author of the book,Joe Vaz also fondly called Babuji.
In this month's post,Sonyaa's Random Musings has taken it upon to promote the book titled, "Bitter Facts, Beautiful Truths" as we extend our support to the author of the book,Joe Vaz also fondly called Babuji.
Before you go on to call this post a book review,I want you to halt right there because I assure you it is not so.We choose to call it a 'cause' instead for you'll soon know the reasons when I explain more about it in the coming paragraphs.
The name 'Joe Vaz'/ 'Babuji' may not ring a bell for he is not a renowned author nor does he have an impressive body of work to his credit.
Joe's life would have been like any one of us with a loving family,an active social life and a job where he was the boss! And he may not have been an author that he has come to be with 50 Volumes of books consisting of over 50,000 philosophical quotations and proverbs.
Then what happened here is where the story begins...
As they say when one aspect of your life rocks, then there is another waiting to crumble and something like that just happened with Joe!
The turning point in Joe's life came at the dawn of the millennium where unforeseen circumstances saw him at the lowest ebb of his life when he was thrown into prison for four and half years, where in his book he describes being a "victim of the system"; thus penning down these philosophical notes was not an option nor a culmination of some leisure-time activity but it was utilizing those moments of solitude in prison and finding a window to channelize his angst, pain, loneliness and tears into a book where he describes the different lessons that life taught him through inspiring proverbs and wisdom quotes.
Though he was lodged in prison with notorious criminals but he didn't let that whole experience harden him nor did he let it weaken his spirit nor crush his soul.Instead while writing this book he found peace and solace as he gradually came to terms with reality and let forgiveness flow from his heart towards those who had falsely implicated him.In fact,it was here in prison that the inmates out of sheer respect began to address him as 'Babuji'(meaning 'Father' in Hindi),a name which he so liked that he took it as an alias!

Finally, the redemption came when the law under which he was tried was abolished and was subsequently released from prison. But with his assets attached by the government and cases pending in the court,he is currently living in exile away from the city where he had lived all his life. With no home and a job of his own,he is gradually trying to join pieces of his life and start anew.
In tough times as these, the silver lining was his family who stood behind him firmly like a rock. However, nothing can undo the precious time of his life lost, the stigma of humiliation, indignity and shame a family had to face in those harrowing moments of their life.
But today, you and I could gift Joe and his family a new beginning in our own little way through our acts of kindness and charity when we purchase this book as his hope now rests on the sales of "Bitter Facts, Beautiful Truth" (Volume 1).

With three months to go for Christmas and just 3000 copies to sell...I'm sure this target can be well achieved as we give this family a very good reason to cheer and celebrate once again!
Here's sharing with you five random quotes from the book ~
"There are men that aren't afraid to die. They are afraid to live."
"A flirt considers herself very popular - when it comes to marriage, she has no suitors."
"Money isn't luck, even if it comes your way by lotto or inheritance.Someone worked towards those figures years ago."
"When the mind is lost, the tongue is loose."
"God created earth for man to live but his kingdom is heaven."
Here are some excerpts of his life from the book ~
"I repeatedly say, 'I have lost money, not my character'. I may perhaps be accused of being guilty by law but certainly I am not guilty by conscience. I uphold my human values,I cherish my dignity and my integrity in unquestionable I affirm."
In the opening paragraphs of his book Babuji describes his book in the words...
"Bitter Facts,Beautiful Truths, is a book authored by a victim of the MPID Act 65 years old, who composed this epic contribution comprising of 50,000 original proverbs and quotes containing his personal experience of day to day life's living incidents, events, circumstances and situations that would touch the heart of every reader and uphold nonstop reading interest as many of the quotes and proverbs would apply to one's own personal life at some point of time or the other that would set one thinking covering every aspect of any individual."

"Bitter Facts, Beautiful Truth" which I mentioned earlier is a compilation of motivational quotes and original proverbs would make an ideal gift for your family, friends, loved ones, your community, institution etc. It'd be your guide towards a new awakening from a man who experienced it all and wants to share a chapter of his life with all of you!
