LONG LIVE THE KING OF POP - MICHAEL JACKSON

Remember, just last year I had written an article on the events (for article click here) that unfolded in the month of August...and I even said that the list was exhaustive and in every possibility I was definitely missing out on many great icons....and I was right...there was one person who was somehow left out from my list...and not just from my list but from everyone's...because so long as he lived, he was a forgotten and unsung hero but the day he died he became a legend.

This was the month 29th August 1958 he was born and the article this month is what I'm going to dedicate to the man who mesmerised us all with his magical voice and electrifying dance moves...he is none other than Michael Jackson! And that's true....just like the 20th century had just one King of the Rock 'n' Roll which was Elvis Presley...the 21st century will have just one....King of Pop - Michael Jackson
Today we remember him all the more and are ready to forgive him for the errings he may or may not have done is because he promised us one final act of his lifetime....though destiny had other plans for him...He had promised us a whooping comeback of 50 concerts titled "This is IT"...Hey Mikey, hope you're listening...you're promise is undone and there's none to fill your shoes!

Though you have transitioned into another world away from the trials and sufferings you endured all your life....but what you have left behind is an invaluable legacy which will continue to remind and haunt us all of a man par excellence and talent called Michael Jackson, of who with pride I'd say lived in my lifetime.

The famous trailer from the film Amadeus (another music genius) can sum up the life of MJ - The Man, The Music, The Madness, The Murder,The Mystery....MICHAEL JACKSON...
Here are some unknown facts of Michael Jackson....at least they were unknown to me until I discovered them! Here they are:
  • His full name was Michael Joseph Jackson
  • A double-inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
  • Other achievements feature multiple Guinness World Records including the "Most Successful Entertainer of All Time" 13 Grammy Awards, 13 number one singles, and estimated sales of over 750 million records
  • He was also a notable philanthropist and humanitarian who donated millions of dollars to a record 39 charities, plus what he raised by way of his own Heal the World Foundation
  • Jackson had a difficult relationship with his father. He stated that he was physically and emotionally abused during incessant rehearsals, whippings, and name-calling,he credited his father's discipline for his success. But years later,Jackson said he suffered nightmares about being kidnapped from his room
  • "Thriller" was named as the Video of the Century
  • He was a Jehovah Witness
  • Youngest Oscar winning actress Tatum O'Neal, was Jackson's first girlfriend and allegedly his first real love
  • President Ronald Reagan wanted to award a special White House medal to Michael Jackson, Bob Hope and the late John Wayne in 1984. However, future Chief Justice of the Supreme Court John Roberts advised against the proposal, saying the award was too much for a pop singer
Hope you enjoyed this month's article....if you did, then do not forget to share your views and comments on the same. Take care and cya until next month!
Love,
Sonyaa
