REMEMBERING AUDREY HEPBURN...

Hello Friends,
How are you doing? Trust all's going well in your life! And as always I make it a point to treat my readers with something new...after all, it's only once a month I get a chance to write to you...In our blog post today we remember one of those classic beauties of the 1950's who ruled Hollywood for over two decades..but in this short span she won a million hearts!
Unlike her contemporaries who exuded sex appeal, had a voluptous look and a fuller figure....this young lady had a slender frame, was elf like, had an innocent face, a warm broad smile and of course an actress par excellence....probably these are some of the attributes the generation of today would vividly recall her as!
Well she is none other than our 'fair lady' with whom many guys would any day love to join for a 'breakfast at Tiffany's' or even accompany for a 'Roman Holiday' Yes, you guessed it right! She is the darling of Hollywood who even today ranks No. 1 on the list of Top 100 Beauties of all time, no. 3 on the American Film Institute's 50 Greatest Screen Legends and no.18 on the Greatest Movie Stars of all Time - she is the timeless and ever charming,Audrey Hepburn.
Born on the 4th May 1929 in Belgium to a wealthy rich banker father and Dutch baroness, she was truly the blue blood until her parent's divorce.Bad times fell when Hitler's army took over the town and Audrey suffered from depression and malnutrition. But after the liberation,Audrey went to a ballet school in London on a scholarship and later began modeling as a career. On being spotted by a producer she was offered a bit part in a European film, later she had a speaking role in the film Young Wives (1951).
But it was when Audrey moved to the US that fortunes turned in her favour with the release of Roman Holiday (1953) that was a roaring success to the extent that she clinched her first Oscar for the film. Then followed a spate of memorable performances with films like Sabrina, My Fair Lady, Breakfast at Tiffany's, The Nun's Story, Wait Until Dark etc.
No one could forget the film My Fair Lady where the cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle was transformed by Professor Higgins into a charming young lady that he loses his bet to love! In fact it is believed that one of Audrey's most radiant roles was in the film My Fair Lady (1964) in 1964 where her co-star, Rex Harrison when was once asked to identify his favorite leading lady, without batting an eyelid he replied "Audrey Hepburn"!
In 1988, she took on a second career when she applied brakes to her acting career and opted to bring joy to a hundred of thousands of children when she accepted the charge of being the goodwill ambassador to the UNICEF where she was actively involved in improving the lives of children and raising funds for bettering their lives. This selfless work she continued right until her death on 20th January 1993.
On the 4th May, we remember this elegant beauty and style icon - Audrey Hepburn on her 80th birthday.
