HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Hi Friends,
How have you been? Trust all's well at your end? I do hope you liked the teaser of my short film which I unveiled in my last month's post? Any feedback? In case you haven't had a chance to watch it, then click here.

Anyway, shifting focus to the topic of this month's blog post...Thanksgiving is around the corner and I thought of writing in on what "Thanksgiving" means to me and a story from the Bible that inspires me each time I read it, which I thought of sharing with you as well.

Though, I've always maintained from the start that everyday of our lives is Thanksgiving, since it encompasses the priceless gifts of everyday joys like Love, Peace, Well-being, Abundance and the Fellowship of our Families, Neighbors, Friends and Communities.

Then why observe a Thanksgiving Day might be your next question? Well, I somewhere deep down in my heart believe that  Thanksgiving Day leaves me with a bonhomie feeling of togetherness where prayers from around the world resonate in unison echoing gratitude and singing psalms of joy.

It is a day when you hear testimonies of gratitude from all quarters and you go home inspired with the belief that God is working his way out no matter how tough the challenges may seem. It is also a day when you reflect through the year to count the manifold blessings you have received, both big and small and express gratitude to God for all of them. Thanksgiving Day is a day for us to in all simplicity say - "Thank you Father-Mother God for all the wonderful gifts you have given us and for all that is in store for us. Amen"

I've come to believe that Thanksgiving Day is the subconscious birth of a "new man" because somewhere deep down the seeds of faith, trust and hope are sown once again for rejuvenation and growth.

On the subject of Thanksgiving, there have been quite a few stories from the Bible that have inspired me, one of them being, "Jesus feeding the multitude"

From the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 15, Verse 32-39
(21st Century King James Version)
32 Then Jesus called His disciples unto Him and said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with Me now three days and have had nothing to eat; and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint on the way.”
33 And His disciples said unto Him, “From whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness as to fill so great a multitude?”
34 And Jesus said unto them, “How many loaves have ye?” And they said, “Seven, and a few little fishes.”
35 And He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
36 And He took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and broke them and gave to His disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
37 And they all ate and were filled. And they took up of the broken pieces that were left, seven baskets full.
38 And those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.
39 And He sent away the multitude, and took the boat and went into the coasts of Magdala.
Now, what truly inspired me was that Jesus first gave thanks to God even before he could serve the multitude with just seven loaves and a few fishes in hand. All in all, God is not asking much of us, He just wants us to express gratitude "now" for the unseen gifts He has in store for us.

Psalms 118:29 -  "O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endures for ever."

Praise the Lord and a Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
Love,
Sonyaa
