OF POP MUSIC & FILMS: REMEMBERING THE LEGENDS

Hello Everybody,

How have you been? Trust all's fine at your end!

In this month's blog posting we remember many of those great style icons and personalities who have in some way made a long lasting impression in our lives and the generation gone by... be it because of their style or a cult image they created through their art be it films, television or music....today,even though they may not be present bodily amongst us but the legacy they have left behind will continue to inspire and remind us about their times, life and struggle to reach the pinnacles of glory. It's sad and unfortunate that we lost such precious gems so early and all too suddenly.

Firstly, Bollywood remembers the original style 'badshaah', the tall Pathan with striking features whom no girl could turn her eyes away from, a man who lived on his own terms and flambuoyance.....a stylish actor but an even gifted director and films like Apradh, Dharmatma, Qurbani, Jaanbaaz, Dayavaan, Yalgaar testify this fact - he is none other than Feroz Khan...the man who enthralled and 'welcome'd his fans as the funny don 'RDX' right through the end when he left his fans this year on the 27th April for his heavenly abode. Bollywood salutes the greatest style icons and a versatile actors of her times.
Coming to Hollywood another actor missed in his circles is the Kung Fu actor David Carradine,a multi-talented personality whose career as an artist did not begin on the stage...but as a sculptor and painter. His popularity soared with the iconic television series "Kung Fu" (1972) catapulting him to instant superstardom for the next three years until he left the series to pursue his film career. And what's more David was a multi-talented personality, he was an accomplished composer, musician, musical performer and songwriter. He recently made a comeback to the big screen in which could be hailed as his greatest performance in his career by playing the title role in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003) and Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004) for which he also received his fourth Golden Globe nomination. But one fine day....he bade his fans a sudden goodbye on the 3rd June when he was found dead in under mysterious circumstances in his hotel room.
Pop music will never be the same again. Here's one man who 'moonwalked' into our lives and vanished into thin air one fine day without giving the world a whimper of the sufferings and hell he was going through...he certainly didn't deserve to die this way is what I have to say beingan ardent MJ fan. Indeed his life was just like a 'thriller' when it ended 'dangerous'ly and abruptly because of an apparent drug overdose on the 25th June. This name to reckon with is Michael Jackson-A black music loved by white people...that is the love, respect and popularity he enjoyed among all age-groups, class and people all over the globe.
I call his life a thriller because many unknown facts about MJ came to light after his death be it about MJ's ill-health, the scars of the fire that burnt his hair during the shoot of a Pepsi commercial and the pain-killers and anti-depressants he took to overcome the pain of the injuries he sustained during his stage shows and the bouts of depression and loneliness he went through after two failed marriages, the announcement of 50 concerts titled "This is It" to pay up his mounting debts and the tarnished reputation over an allegation of an apparent child abuse case which mentally scarred him (MJ loved children, he set up 'Heal the World' foundation to raise money to ensure a better life for under-priveleged children, he then bought the Neverland ranch which contains a child's mini coaster, Zipper, Bumper cars, Merry go round, octopus, Giant slide, rocking dragon,a full size basketball court, water wars section (for water gun fights) 2 Trains, (one steam train)and a zoo in which he had various exotic animals including elephants, giraffes, alligators,a tiger and even an Anaconda....why was all this meant....simply to remind him of his lost childhood, more so it is believed that children who visited the Neverland Ranch had a wonderful time!....and don't forget MJ had the custody to both his children.....so it is hard to believe that a case as child molestation would be levelled against him which caused him deep stress and anguish).

The beauty of his music was the soul behind each of his compositions and the effort by way of presentation and his electrifying dance performances to go with it made each of it a masterpiece! Who can forget the meaningful tracks like "They don't really care about us", "We are the World", "Heal the World"...simply outstanding! Here's celebrating the life and time of MJ whose life was as mysterious as his death and whose music was as pure as his thoughts. He taught us to 'heal the world...to make it a better place'....but who'd believe that the man whose music spelt brotherhood, joy, unity, love and brought many smiles....would one day leave us all forever all so suddenly....God bless his soul...RIP Michael Jackson
Hope you enjoyed reading this month's posting....then do not forget to take 5 minutes of your time to share your comments and pay your tributes to the legendary icons of our times- Michael Jackson, David Carradine and Feroz Khan.
Take care and see you until next month!
Love,
Sonyaa

Hello Sonyaa,
Thanks very much for a very touching tribute to MJ as he was fondly called . Undoubtedly, it was very sudden & tragic. He will be missed by all but his music will always be with us to remind us the qualities of gentleness, loveliness and humility he expressed so profoundly.

It's really a very touching article about MJ. I am also a big fan of him, though I didn't know so much about his personal life. And reading this article has only aggrandized my respect for him. So, thank you!
