OSCARS 2016: AN INTERESTING EVENING OF MANY "FIRSTS"!

Hi Friends,

How are you? And how was Valentine's Day? How did you spend that day in February which comes once in four years? Yep I'm talking of the leap year i.e. 29th February...hope you partied hard! ;-) Even if you didn't, Hollywood sure did when the film fraternity converged together once again to celebrate,honor and reward the finest talents among them at the Oscars.And we too celebrated in their joy as we cheered and rooted for our favorites while sitting in front of our television sets!

While the curtains on the awards season may have come down with the grand finale culminating at the Oscars but at the outset this year has been a mixed bag indeed especially when it came to predicting the winners! And perhaps for some it may even be disappointing to say the least with Sylvester Stallone not winning the Best Supporting Actor award, the lack of diversity clearly visible in the list of nominees and subsequent to it #Oscarsowhite trending across different social networks.

ROUND-UP OF THE OSCARS 2015 : THE HITS & MISSES!

Howdy?The shortest and romantic month of the year,February slipped by so quickly and lo,here we are in the third month of 2015 already as I pen down my March musings! 

February...the season of love? Ask Hollywood and you'll know that it is also that month of the year when the crème de la crème of the film industry gather together (a la Thanksgiving meeting!) to celebrate talent by recognizing and rewarding tour de force performances, cinematic excellence and life-time achievements with awards, awards and a plethora of awards!

Just recently,the Oscars concluded and thankfully for us, the wins sprung no surprises! We were saved from all the heartache post the nomination snubs,when predictably the favorites tipped to win,won that night!

22nd February was the date when Hollywood's glitterati assembled at the Dolby Theatre for the 87th Annual Academy Awards.And as the curtains came down that evening we had new winners,with the likes of Eddie Redmayne, Julianne Moore,JK Simmons and Patricia Arquette taking home the golden statuette for the Best Actor, Actress, Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress respectively.

So here's once again revisiting that evening for you in a nutshell...

OSCARS 2014: THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS...3.2.1

The Oscars are nigh...in less than two days from now,new winners  will be rewarded whose work shone like a shining star all through the year-be it through their performances, direction,production design, costume design, story, screenplay etc.So,once again it's going to be one big occasion where Hollywood will celebrate the best among them.I believe all are winners in my eyes whether they are nominated or not because behind every story, performances and technical details/ aspect of the film there's blood,sweat,tears and years of hard work of people striving to make the film a reality.Ask me,I know how difficult it was for me to put together a ten and a half minutes film...so you can well understand the  level  of commitment a feature film entails! So,it's three cheers to all of them!!

OSCARS 2013: THE SOUNDS OF MUSIC, DANCE & VICTORY

Hope you're doing fine? Did you watch the Oscars? Certainly, by now it's old news for all of you but for me! So, here we are!

Of course by now everyone must have finished discussing the grand ceremony (certainly one of the best I've seen in recent times...we'll discuss more about it in this post), the winners (like always a post-mortem analysis on some performances that sprung a surprise etc etc) and one thing that no one forgets to discuss is how did the host of the evening score in this prestigious annual award function watched by millions worldwide!

Here's my five from this year's Oscar! 

Did you just see Robin & Harry Potter dance?

1) Don't know where to start from... anyway let's begin with Seth Macfarlane himself! The job of hosting a show is not easy...you gotta have spunk and timing to get your act right. 

The immensely talented, Seth Macfarlane largely succeeded in doing so, but here's where he didn't! I somehow didn't quite enjoy his sexist barbs through his pre-recorded song- "We saw your boobs!" or his dig on Latina actresses like Salma Hayek, Jessica Alba or Penelope Cruz and his tongue-in-cheek on DDL's method! Also the Ted-Mark Wahlberg act didn't gel well with me...I just kinda found it crude!

AND THE OSCAR GOES TO...

How have you been? How did the month go by? How did you celebrate the leap day? And guys...did you receive any proposal on that day? :-) I hope you accepted it? ;-) If you don't know what I'm talking about...why don't you ask an Irishman about it...he'd tell you a tradition you possibly wouldn't have known of...apparently even I came to know about it through a film. (Hint: Read my blog post of February!)

And yes...did you watch the Oscars? Well...if you're asking me...boy, I surely did! Being a movie buff, I added some good number of films to my watch list! Now that aside...I must say, I love watching the Oscars and the BAFTAs because it's one occasion when you're celebrating the best of Hollywood and world cinema! Howzzat for an explanation by a telly watcher?! Alright here's more...what makes it even more interesting is that it's not just the glamour quotient that runs high in an award ceremony as this but here's a chance to keep abreast of the latest fashion trends,play the game of spot the actor/ actress on the red carpet or even possibly presenting an award and also hear some exclusive on spot snippets of interviews of actors, actresses and prolific film makers whom you seldom see in person...all under one roof! 



OSCAR NIGHT FEVER!

How are you doing? Trust that the New Year kick-started on a bright note for all and I pray that this spirit continues to sparkle all through the year! And for those whom the New Year began on a not-so-bright note...you still have 11 months to go...so cheer up and let's thanks God for the gift of Today, so that we may be able to make the best of Tomorrow!

Crime,Controversies,Corruption and Political instability continue to make news these days and like always not a day passes when everything has gone off smoothly around the world.So early in the year, I wouldn't like to do a recap of events which are not of your making and your liking either...though I did promise a reader of mine that I'd definitely write an article in one of my upcoming blog postings on the News-maker of the Decade,Julian Assange who has taken the world by storm. Incidentally,I made up my mind to write on him when my reader wrote to me asking me to write on anything besides Cinema! So...you'll have to wait on for that one...and by the way if you have anything interesting to share on any subject of your choice and yes, even on Julian Assange, feel free to write. Finally we did it....and for those of you who missed the action....let me tell you...it rained Oscars as India hit the Jackpot with a film on India that clinched a record of 8 Oscars!!! 

8 Oscars for Slumdog Millionaire...the underdog (I mean the film) that surprised Hollywood with a clear sweep which included Best Picture, Best Director,Best Song, Best Musical Score, Best Editing, Best Sound Mixing,Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Cinematography!!

ONE MAN WILL BE MISSED THIS OSCAR….

How have you been?? It’s been really long that I wrote in, especially from the time I decided to write in once a month….Ah! blame it on time constraints or my crazy schedules…I really have no track of it….my apologies…..am online today…barely making it… just to ensure that my dear readers, subscribers and bloggers do not miss out on my posting which is due today…..why am I telling you this….well simply because am out of town and just as I have managed to make it….I’d want each one of you taking out time no matter how hectic your schedule may be to make it a point to read and share your comments on my blog.
